Hydraulic Platform Trailers
Multi-axle towed hydraulic platform trailers for heavy and oversize cargo.
When standard trailers don’t fit the load
Hydraulic platform trailers extend our capability between standard heavy-haul trailers and self-propelled modular transporters. They handle loads heavier than a step-deck or RGN can carry, while staying simpler and faster to mobilize than an SPMT combination.
What they offer
- Multi-axle configuration — axle count scales to load weight
- Hydraulic suspension — even load distribution, ride control, and the ability to maintain deck level over uneven terrain
- Hydraulic steering — every axle steers, allowing tight maneuvering and precise placement
- Configurable deck length — extendable for long components
Common loads
- Refinery vessels and exchangers
- Wind turbine tower sections
- Transformers and generators
- Heavy modules and skids
- Long structural steel and bridge components
Use with
- Heavy haul transport — over-the-road movement
- SPMTs — for the final-position handoff
- Cranes — for the lift after delivery
- Permits & routing — for the regulatory side of oversize moves

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a hydraulic platform trailer and an SPMT?
An SPMT is self-propelled — it drives under its own power. A hydraulic platform trailer is towed by a tractor. Both have hydraulic suspension and computer-controlled steering. Trailers are typically lower-cost and faster to mobilize for over-the-road work; SPMTs are required where self-propulsion is needed (off-highway moves, precise positioning under modules, roll-on/roll-off).
What loads do you carry on hydraulic platform trailers?
Heavy industrial cargo where standard step-deck or RGN trailers won't work — vessels, transformers, generators, turbines, reactors, modular components. The trailers configure to the load weight and dimensions.
Do hydraulic platform trailers need permits?
Yes — most loads carried on hydraulic platform trailers are oversize, overweight, or both, and require permits and (often) escorts. Our team handles permitting and routing. See Permits & Routing.
