When the crane won’t work, the gantry does
Sometimes the load can’t be lifted from above. The roof is in the way. The crane can’t be staged close enough. The pick weight exceeds what the floor will take. The adjacent equipment can’t be shut down.
Jack-and-slide solves all of those constraints. We use hydraulic climbing-jack gantries and slide-track systems to place equipment from below — vertically lifting the load and walking it horizontally into position.
How it works
- Pre-job survey — measure clearances, evaluate floor capacity, plan track routing
- Gantry assembly — sized to the load, set up at the staging area
- Track installation — slide rails laid between staging and final position
- Lift and traverse — load jacked clear of transport, slid along tracks, jacked to final elevation
- Set and finalize — load lowered to bolts, foundation, or skid

What is jack and slide?
Jack and slide is a method for placing heavy equipment using hydraulic climbing jacks and a slide-track system instead of a crane. The load is jacked vertically and moved horizontally along tracks. It's used in restricted-clearance buildings, power plants, refineries, and any location where a crane can't reach or won't fit.
When do I need jack and slide instead of a crane?
Typical triggers: low overhead clearance (inside an existing building), tight footprint (a crane couldn't be set up close enough), heavy point load (the floor or roof can't take a crane), or proximity restrictions (live equipment that must stay running nearby).
What's the heaviest load you can jack and slide?
Our gantry systems handle individual loads in the 100–1,000+ ton range with appropriate jack and track sizing. The limit is more often the floor's capacity than the gantry's.
Do you do jack and slide work in operating facilities?
Routinely. Jack-and-slide is often the only practical way to place equipment in a live refinery, power plant, or industrial facility without taking the surrounding operation offline.
