For 300+ ton work, the planning matters more than the iron. We assemble large-class cranes routinely — but the lift only goes as well as the analysis behind it.
What we plan before the boom comes off the truck:
- Pick weight verification — including rigging, blocks, and any below-the-hook tooling
- Ground bearing analysis — soil conditions, mat sizing, outrigger or crawler pressures
- Boom and jib configuration — main, luffer, fixed-jib, super-lift options
- Counterweight loadout — what’s required vs. what’s available at the yard
- Mobilization route and assembly window — multi-load transport, assembly area, weather contingency
- Multi-crane coordination if tandem or tailing — synchronized load charts, signal-person assignment, lift-director designation

When do I need a 300+ ton crane?
Large cranes are typically required for: setting refinery vessels and reactors, erecting wind turbine nacelles and towers (most modern turbines need 600+ ton class), placing modular plant components, lifting transformers and generators, and any pick where the load weight or radius exceeds smaller-class capacity.
Do large crane rentals include the lift plan?
An engineered lift plan is included in the project scope for any pick that meets the criteria for a critical lift or that requires multi-crane coordination. Routine large-crane work without those triggers can run with a documented standard plan.
How long does it take to mobilize a 600-ton crane?
Heavy cranes ship in multiple loads — boom sections, counterweights, the carrier, and rigging arrive separately. Mobilization typically runs 3–7 days depending on origin yard, permits, and assembly location. Long-lead bookings are common for outage and turnaround windows.
What ground conditions does a large crane require?
Outrigger and crawler ground bearing pressures for 300+ ton cranes can exceed 30,000 psf without mats. Most projects require crane mats or engineered timber pads, and an engineered ground-bearing analysis is part of the lift plan.
