Frequently asked questions
What counts as 'oversize' or 'overweight' for heavy haul?
Generally: loads exceeding 8'6" wide, 13'6" tall, 53' long, or 80,000 lb gross are considered oversize / overweight in most U.S. states. Specific thresholds vary by state. Anything beyond standard requires permits, and many loads also require escorts and route restrictions.
Do you handle the permits, or do I?
We handle them. Permits, routing, escort coordination, road-ban tracking, and time-of-day restrictions are all part of our turn-key service. You provide the load specifications, origin, and destination — we handle the rest.
What's a 'superload'?
Superload is a state-specific designation for loads that exceed normal oversize permit limits — typically by weight, but sometimes by dimension. Superloads require enhanced engineering review (bridge analysis, route survey, sometimes traffic engineering) and longer permit lead times.
How much lead time do you need?
Standard oversize permits run 1–5 business days depending on state. Superloads often need 2–6 weeks. Multi-state superloads with bridge engineering can run longer. The earlier you engage us, the more options you'll have.
What information do you need to quote a heavy haul move?
Load weight, dimensions (LWH), origin, destination, target dates, lifting/loading method at origin and destination, and any special requirements (hazmat, secured access, escort preferences). We'll do a route preliminary, identify permit constraints, and quote turn-key.
